Beautiful patio area, free wine and pistachio tastings and reasonable prices. We are kind of picky with our wine, and we definitely found some here that we enjoyed!

Heart of the Desert Pistachios & Wine – Came for Pistachios, Left with Wine We stopped here with a simple mission: grab a few bags of pistachios as gifts for friends back home. Easy, right? Well… not quite. The store itself is quaint and charming, filled with all kinds of temptations. Pistachios in every form, chocolates, wines, and gift options that make you rethink your original plan. You can taste a little of everything, which is both delightful and dangerous. Then we stepped out onto the patio with our pistachio ice cream, and wow… completely unexpected. The space is gorgeous. Calm, open, and the kind of place that makes you slow down without even trying. Honestly, if I lived nearby, I’d be planning celebrations here without a second thought. Somewhere between the views and the tasting, I tried their pistachio rosé. And yes, I had the same reaction, “wait… what?” But it worked. Different, pleasant, and surprisingly good. Good enough that I completely abandoned my pistachio gift plan and walked out with several bottles instead. A much more unique surprise. The staff were warm and welcoming, adding to the whole experience. No rush, no pressure, just genuine friendliness. We didn’t have as much time as I would have liked, and that’s probably the only downside. This is the kind of place where you want to linger longer, taste more, and just enjoy the moment. Came for pistachios. Left with wine and zero regrets.

Ok so we bought this at a place along RT 66 and I have to say it’s pretty good. I happened to look at the ingredients and noticed the best by date and was a little shocked because it says 6/19/25! I just bought it on April 3, 2026. I’m not saying it’s bad it was just a little strange to see that date, is it ok to eat?

What amazing staff and a variety of unique products. They are generous with all of their samples and they do a great job giving information on their products. I left with pistachio red Chile brittle, green chile pistachio popcorn, green chile and garlic pistachios, vanilla praline pistachios, and garlic and onion pistachios! When in Alamogordo, you must visit Heart of the Desert!

My best friend celebrated her wedding at this venue, and it was absolutely beautiful. The space itself is stunning and created the perfect atmosphere for such a memorable occasion. While there were a few stressful moments due to miscommunication prior to the event, everything ultimately came together seamlessly. A large part of that was thanks to Lacey. She was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive throughout the process. Her hard work and genuine care for our experience gave us so much peace of mind. She went above and beyond to ensure every detail was handled and that the day felt special. Her professionalism and dedication truly made a lasting impression on all of us. We’re very thankful for her efforts and for the beautiful celebration that we were able to have.

From one nut to another, these (green chili and garlic) pistachios are cool as a katabatic breeze sliding down a Chugach slope in Anchorage. Wonderful taste with a surprisingly piquant reward waiting within. Perfect gift. Even better self reward. Bon appetit!

I drove by this place noticing the Heart thinking it was just a landmark. I didn't realize it was a shop with it's own pistachio farm and processing plant until I Googled it so I stopped when I was coming back through. Nice gift shop. They do tours once a day at 1:30pm. They have wine and oils and vinegars and of course all things pistachio. My favorites being the toffee and caramels. Also very unique gifts. Even have bacon scented gift wrap. Best thing is you can sample just about everything. They also have ice cream. I sampled the pistachio. It's good but a bit of an icy texture. I prefer creamier texture. Flavor is good though. If you're in the area, worth checking out.

Last Friday we visited this lovely local pistachio farm because my son needed to write a report for his history class. We all absolutely loved the FREE tour that included all of the processing information in view of the equipment. The fact that this is been such a long-standing pistachio farm in Alamogordo is very impressive and we hope it continues on for a long time. In particular a shout out to Lisa, Tara, and Sabrina for their warmth and help. We really enjoyed the fun wine, tasting room, all the different varieties of pistachio flavors and the chocolate! I probably spent more money than I should have but the staff present that day really made it a fun time for all of us. I highly recommend this farm to every traveler and going on the tour with Lisa is worth coordinating your schedule for!

We had lots of fun looking around, buying pistachios, eating ice cream, talking with the extremely kind and gentle staff. I was surprised to also find beautiful jewelry, sunglasses, and discover even more types of flavored pistachios (green/red chili, red chili with lime). And they let you sample whatever you want!

Great Stop! We did the wine tasting. All the reds are good. White is not my jam, however they were not as dry as expected. Very smooth wine. We bought a few bottles, couple bottles of local beer. Definitely try this wine. It’s all smooth, none of those tart tannins.

Fantastic wines and so much more! This location is calm and relaxing which created a wonder ambiance and no rush or lines. The wine tasting is generous and free and I was surprised at the full flavor of the wines along with the variety. We wound up buying two bottles of wine but I know I’m going to kick for not getting more. The ice cream and chocolates were delish. The gift shop was tasteful with home decor featuring wine related items. The oils and balsamic vinegars were excellent so we bought two bottles of that too. The staff is so friendly and very happy to give samples. They are knowledgeable any the products. Many items were on sale. Highly recommend this location, the other two pistachio places looked like tourist traps. This location felt relaxed even on the busy weekend.
